Astragalus Honey
It is the honey obtained from the astragalus (thorn) plant grown in the Arpaçay district of Kars. Beekeepers place the hives around the area we call “gorunga,” and the bees produce their honey in June, July, and August. There are several reasons why our honey is high-quality and delicious:
1 =) The Caucasian bee breed (the long-tongued bee species extracts the full essence of the flower)
2 =) High altitude — beekeepers set up their tents at 1800–2200 meters to produce the yearly honey
3 =) The astragalus thorn grows among thousands of different flowers (high floral diversity)
4 =) Absolutely no sugar syrup is used in our honey; bees are fed honeycomb from the previous year.
